Man seeing barcodes

Its a black-and-white movie.
There is a man who can see people with boxes on their heads, and he can see barcodes/numbers on every object (I 4got if all the objects were fake too). This happened on his birthday (i think...), coz he was greeted. And the other people they cant see what he's seeing, its like they're being controlled.

Another scene I remember is that he entered a factory/building (I think its a factory of boxes but i'm not sure), and that structure has a secret pathway. That pathway leads to the controller. He's with a woman.

This is a very old movie. I watched this on a (new year/xmas/halloween) here in the Philippines on ch. 23 (Studio 23), where they did this movie marathon.
