Hi.  New to your site.  Been watching movies forever (I'm 44).  I know quite a few schlock films of many decades /genres, but this one has me stumped.  I've googled, no luck yet (my google-fu is weak).
so: it was in color, probably mid-to late 1980s, possibly the 1990's era.  humanoid aliens from another planet flee to earth (think a ship crashed).  the grand mother and grandfather were running with their "teen" grandson, and gain trust of a teen girl (I think she hid them in her house). By touching a crystal, she visualized what caused them to flee to earth.  (their world had a war, male teen saw his parents die, grandparents were told to care for him/flee, they were fleeing robotic asassins?.  Teen girl sympathized, helped them run away from the robotic assassins who followed them.  The aliens had a short fuzzy humanoid chimp-like pet (person in latex suit) as their pet.  In the end the aliens killed the robots who were chasing them, and were able to leave to their planet.  I don't remember if the girl left with the boy or not.
Can you help?   This movie would have been on cable tv, and /or regular tv, or it might have been a rental (vhs days).  THanks for any ideas.  --Shannon

If the plot moved at the speed of molasses, then this is probably "Stranded" (1987).

You might try EARTHBOUND (1981).

thanks very, very much.  Yes, it  is "Stranded" (1987).  guess I didn't remember my favorite Maureen O'S. starring in it.  Once I checked google & IMDB, I saw the film cover and pics & knew that was the one.  I'll be back on, after I remember a few more films that have had me stumped.  Keep on helping !!  hugs. --S-- in michigan
