I'll have to second The Sadist.  I found it rather more disturbing then Henry, I think because of the character Arch Hall Jr. plays versus expectation of films from the era.

Dahmer (2002)

Overlooked and ignored. Not a cheap cash-in, but a disturbing and creepy portrait of one sick individual. Excellent cast and performances.

nice, will look out for this, never heard of it.

CITIZEN X
I haven't seen this in a long time, but remember it being pretty good.
It's about Russian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo.

That's definitely a good one and unfairly ignored IMO.  Great characterisations and not an excess word of dialogue anywhere.  It also captures the feel of the time (cold war soviet).  Stands up very well to repeat viewings.   Thumbup

The Captive Female is kind of disturbing.  I've got it under the title Claw of Terror on the Blood-O-Rama 4 pack.  It looks kind of cheesy on the trailer, but it's oddly effective.

MAYBE NOT 100% SAFE FOR WORK

I love THE SADIST, but I don't think of it as creepy or disturbing. More tense and suspenseful.

True Rev., it is more my own expectations which is a subjective matter.  I think I need to watch less Munsters and such and more earlier obscure/dark cinema.  I never really considered the subject in the 40's/50's/60's  though I must confess 50's/60's cinema is probably what I have seen the least with big name movies of the time being an exception.  I must confess in watching I have skimmed over them.

Can't believe I forgot this one. Best, most accurate portrayal of Ed Gein IMHO. Roberts Blossom looked so much like Ed it was pretty freaky!

CONFESSIONS OF A SERIAL KILLER (with set piece artist Robert Burns as a Henry Lee Lucas type),the SADIST,the 80's MANIAC,MONSTER,and CTEZEN X are all excellent.
And LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT,the DEVIL'S REJECTS,and the despicable I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE are all effect-sometimes too much-as are the TOOLBOX MURDERS,the SINFUL DWARF,and LAST HOUSE ON DEAD END STREET.

I enjoyed "Rampage". Shocked that it was a Uwe Boll film. The whole scene in the hairdresser shop just makes me ill and depressed when it crosses my mind.

And, RC, my friend! "Last House On A Dead End Street"?!?! That thing is...disturbing. Like being so stoned that nothing makes sense as a whole and the individual moments of lucidity are frightening. I think it is about time to revisit that as I have avoided it since the first time I saw it over 25 years ago. I'll blame my nightmares on you, kind sir, for reminding me of it.   BounceGiggle
