I'm surprised no one has mentioned Only Fools & Horses.  it was voted best UK comedy of all time in a tv thing a while back. I think it's pretty good but wouldn't put it in my top 10.

Ah,yes! Thanks for reminding me....I liked that show. It had two of my favorite British comedy actors in it....David Jason who I also adored on "Open All Hours" and Nicholas Lyndhurst whom I first discovered on "Butterflies".

I'm also a fan of CREATURE COMFORTS and the UK version of WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY.  I wasn't really thinking of them as Britcoms since they're unscripted but what the hey.

Even though I will always love the classics like Red Dwalf, the goodies, and anything monty python. Right now I love the I.T. Crowd. Moss is like the sheldon off the big bang thoery as both are the Abed off Community. Aka there is a new formula emerging where we have the funny socially awkard guy now. Pretty damn awesome.

The Goodies. A show that was actually more popular than Monty Python back in the day.

I don't remember The Goodies, although I think my dad has mentioned it a few times.

Don't know much about Benny Hill either. Although looking at some of clips on Tube, can't say I find him funny.

Forgot to mention "The Fast Show" and "Smack the Pony", and the comedy panel show "Have I Got News For You"

I have a soft spot for Allo Allo, a WWII comedy created by the Are You Being Served guys. Like McHale's Navy, many of the antics are likely more true to life than some folks would like to admit. Fun fact: Two of the actors who portray recurring German officer characters (Guy Siner and Hillary Minster) also appear in the Doctor Who serial Genesis of the Daleks, the former as a Kaled and the latter as a Thal.
