Creepy Film from the 80's

Okay, there was a movie (possibly part of a TV show?) my old music teacher used to show us EVERY Halloween when I was kid (late 80's) and it used to scare the crud out of me.  Out of shear masochism, I would love to find it again.  What I remember best about it is there was a boy who placed stones around the fire and every stone had a name on it.  The stones were placed down (I think) and if any of the stones were turned over by accident or not, there would be a monster with glowing red eyes who would come for the person whose name was on that stone.  That monster haunted my dreams.  The only thing I really remember happening is that the stone that carries the boy's name is somehow turned over and the monster comes for him.

This ringing any bells for anyone??
