I recall something similar from the Banana Splits Show:

I even remember them driving on water in them.

I can see a lot of people around here taking trips across the border to get their hands on one of these before they're sold in Canada.

I can see where the cops and rescue workers around here would benefit from one of those. Lots of rough terrain and water to get over. A vehicle that can do both fast would be perfect. I wonder how much equipment it can safely carry.

I've seen pictures of 6-wheeled and 8- wheeled vehicles similar to this.  I believe they were amphibious.  The one in the article, however, could probably travel faster over water.  The wheels on this vehicle would create too much drag; that was the problem with the Amphicar, if memory serves.  A 6-wheel vehicle does look cooler.  Wink

That would be an Argo. They've been around since the 60s. Canadian made, not too far from where I grew up. They are slower in the water when using the wheels as paddles, but they have a mount for an outboard motor. Not quite as smoothly amphibious as the 4-wheeler though.

A number of companies marketed similar vehicles in the 60s and 70s. The Banana Splits used an Amphicat.
