"Charlie,we're in HELL!"-"yeah,ain't it groovy?!"

Ok....we all know and love the EXORCIST
Classic film.
And I actually enjoyed much of the EXORCIST III....even though it can be very confusing on first veiwing....
But let's talk real confusion-that's where The EXORCIST II-the HERETIC comes in.
Linda Blair is back as Reagn-who is seeing a shrink as a result of her duel with Pazuzu the demon in the first film.
And Max Von Sydow is back in flashbacks casting out a demon from an Ethopian boy who has the power to ward off hoardes of locasts.
In addition we get Louise Fletcher who is creepier in this than in ONE FLEW OVER THE COCO'S NEST.
And,of course,Richard Burton ...who is-well-the Heretic of the title
Oh-James Earl Jones shows up too.

And with all this talent -you would think their would be one iota of acting in this mess?
NONE. I've seen puppet shows with more range of emotion.
BUT!-Watch it anyway-just to see-
Linda Blair looking really hot! You can see her nipples pushing against her blouse in many scenes.
Linda doing a version of 42nd street-the scariest part of the film!
Linda doing a weird dance among a horde of locasts.
Evil Linda vs Good Linda!

Oh-and Burton walking around like a catonic in a subway-which likey wasnt an act.

Ronny, I remember reading a magazine at our local town barbers which had pics from this in it: I vaguely remember seeing things like locusts on fire and it scared me quite badly. Only ten at the time, mind you.

Oh-there are lots-LOTS of locats in the film.
But the best was the giant locast buzzing over hill and dale terrifying villagers....unfortuantly for the audiance it was more hilarous than scary!  BounceGiggle

I usually forget to mention this one during discussions of the worst movies (major releases, not cheesy, low-budget movies) of all time.  This one is right up there with Al Pacino's REVOLUTION, WIRED, DUNE, et. al.

I mentioned this one a while ago on the phorum... I'll be the Devil's advocate (which is not a bad position to talk about a film about demonic posessions) and I'll say I don't find it to be a total train wreck. Sure, it's not very scary and Richard Burton does a terrible job, but the script throws in a few interesting bits, and the visuals are interesting.

But then somehow the last bit becomes a parody of the original film, complete with hammy acting and fireworks, and that's just unforgivable. I'm willing to forgive many things in a bad movie if the end is good, but here's actually the opposite thing.

A very well developed Linda Blair is the only thing that makes this abomination watchable.

Sure she looks grown-up here, but her acting seems to have progressed backwards.

This movie is horrible and pretty much incomprehensible. The only Exorcist sequel that I kind of enjoyed was the 3rd film.

"Dominion", the prequel that went straight to DVD has its moments, although it's not very scary. The Renny Harlin version, the one that got a theatrical release, is even worse than this one.

I've been curious about this movie for a while now mainly because of its reputation. Sadly, (thankfully?) I haven't been able to track down a  copy yet.
