I have only ever seen this Cannon Films classic (if anything made by the company that almost ruined our film industry in the 1980s can be called classic) once and that was at boarding school in 1985. It's since become available on DVD and I should get it soon via www.kalahari.com. I remember it being quite eerie in places and quite cheesy in others, with an absolutely confusing ending but I remember it fondly.

It isn't every film that has Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price and John Carradine in it, after all.  TeddyR

Any thoughts on this, peeps? Did I waste SARand250 (about $25) on it or not?

No. The first and only time those four grand old men of horror: Carradine, Cushing, Lee, and Price--would appear in the same film together. And when Lee dies, the last of the four still alive, a film era will be over.

Also watch for Shelia Keith (After she is found strangled with piano wire, "He [her killer] must have heard her singing.") Richard Todd, and Norman Rossington in smaller roles. We'll forget that Desi Arnaz, jr. is in it.

And the screenplay has a rich history. Based upon the stageplay "Seven Keys to Baldpate" by George M. Cohan (yes, that George M. Cohan,) Which was based on the novel of the same title by Earl Derr Biggers (yes, that Earl Derr Biggers.)

Well worth watching (IMHO.)

I should be receiving this today: it's been almost thirty years since I saw it last. Can't wait.

I am planning a review: I just have to finish The Final Sacrifice and Heaven's Gate first.  Wink

I saw that film in 1981 and I was wondering what the hell I was watching. I watched the 210 minute DVD I have and my attitude has now changed. The question I ask now is "Why am I watching this?"  Buggedout $100 million and United Artists gone *BANG* and for what?

I just realized why the name Michael Armstrong (the screenwriter) rang a bell and made my tongue go all funny: he directed Mark Of The DevilBuggedout Buggedout

Creepy, eerie, funny and now that I've finished watching it, well worth the money spent.  Thumbup
