After the classic punk rock doc THE FALL OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION (1981), director Penelope Spheeris did this
excellent film about life as a punk in the 80's. Basically it's the story of The Rejected (TR), a group of kids who lived in a deserted house in a former suburb turned ghost town, which has been over run by wild dogs. (In the first scene of the movie we even get to see a wild dobie attack a baby and shake it like a rag doll.) Dissilusioned by child abuse and life in general, they reject society and do what p**sed off teenagers do- say FTW. Of course this p**ses off the local yokels...
Chris Pederson as Jack is VERY good,as is Timothy O'Brien as Skinner and Flea (billed here as Mike B. the Flea).
Lotsa good stuff going on here-such as...
.Skinner,at a punk concert telling a girl-"I'd f**k your brains out,but I don't think you have any."
.Jack, looking around a garage sale and when asked by the housewife "Can I help you find anything?",answers-"Got any vibrators?"
.Razzle pouring a blue Slushie into a jar of pickled eggs at a redneck liquer store.
.Razzle sticking a large rat in his mouth.
.and the punk parade-
-which makes me nostalgic for my punk youth...(
heavy sigh).
OH! and some great music by T.S.O.L.,the Vandals, and DI!!!
Great movie about a music scene and way of life that phoney punks could never know.
