Small | Large

Canadian/Hungarian director Tibor Takács who once wowed genre fans with the underrated The Gate and I, Madman unleashes his latest effort, Spiders. A silly creature feature about mutated spiders from outer space invading New York. Kind of funny because Gary Jones made the exact same film back in 2000, also titled Spiders.

Small | Large

Jones' Spiders is clearly more fun and entertaining.

The 2000 film does look better, and I remember it being quite entertaining to me personally, but the same thing? Come on. I wanted to make a film called "Spiders" about giant spiders when I was in second grade.

This generic of a plot is not necessarily a ripoff Wink

Well, how many giant spiders from outer space movies are there? They are usually exposed to chemicals, radiation or some gen-experiment. There are certainly different ways to tell a story about giant spiders. In a Spider's Web comes to mind for example. Spiders (2013) just seems lazy and the similarities to Spiders (2000) seem very suspicious to me  Wink

Earth is visited by a GIANT ANTIMATTER SPACE BUZZARD! Gawk at the amazingly bad bird puppet, or chuckle over the silly dialog. This is one of the greatest b-movies ever made.
