I don't want ones like Dr. Strangelove (which I love), but more the kind of movies you may not find on a google search "best of" list. I would also prefer that the "end of the world" came relatively in the beginning of the film, so I can see how the protagonist(s) deal with the aftermath.

Thanks!

Damnation Alley is fun

Or for a slightly goofier take on the subject, Hell Comes To Frogtown is an old favorite of mine.

Cyborg with Jean-Claude Van Damme holds a special charm for me too.

Crash and burn is another favorite

Threads (1984) was pretty devastating and bleak.

I love this site! You could never get these recommendations on a google search, but I have to give credit that it was a search that led me to badmovies.org back in the early 2000's. It's good to be back after all these years.

Thanks for your help

This was the second in the original series of films and,in my opinion, the least enjoyable...although a must -see to continue the story. Definitely an end-of-the-world flick even though it had another movie after it where they went back in time.

One of my favorites is THE DAY THE WORLD ENDED (1955) with its 3 eyed, 4 armed ,horned mutant!
It's really quite creepy at times-the radation misted hills and sense of impending doom.

There's a new one coming out this summer where actors like James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, etc... all play themselves dealing with the aftermath of the apocalypse.  Looks like it could be pretty funny...
