Sad day.  I loved him long before I ever knew his name, as the man who did the special effects in the Sinbad movies I loved so much as a child!  The Homunculus in THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD was the coolest thing ever!!!

RIP Ray!

A true master and pioneer.  At 92 he obviously lived a long and worthwhile life.  As a child I was dazzled by Jason and the Argonauts, Earth Vs The Flying Saucers, and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad.  Sleep well, Mr. Harryhausen.  Thank you for everything.

Damn. DAMMIT!  :bluesad:

One of the innovators of fantasy film. One of my favorite movies of all time was the 7th VOYAGE OF SINBAD. his resume is amazing-
some of the classics he worked on-
.MIGHTY JOE YOUNG (1949)-his mentor in that film Willis (the LOST WORLD,KING KONG) O'Brien.
.IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SEA (1955) The giant octopus only had 6 tentacles-thats all they could afford!
.EARTH VS THE FLYING SAUCERS (1956)-Before INDEPENDENCE DAY -Ray destroyed Washington DC.You Go,Ray!!!
.The ANIMAL WORLD (1956) The dinosaur sequences were re-used in TROG (1973).
.20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH (1957) The Ymir-an iconic
monster. The battle with the elephant in the Colliseum-classic.
.the 7th VOYAGE OF SINBAD (1958) The two headed Roc,the dragon, and of course-his most famous creation-the Cyclops! (actually-there were 2 cyclops in that movie-the one towards the end had 2 horns on his head-one in front of the other-look closely.)
.The 3 WORLDS OF GULLIVER (1960) No one ever recalls the classic childrens film.
.MYSTERIOUS ISLAND (1961) The best version of this film ever made.
.JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS (1963) Tom Hanks said at an award ceremony for Ray that this film made him want to be in motion pictures.
.FIRST MEN IN THE MOON (1964) Very whimsical version of Vernes tale.
.ONE MILLION YEARS BC (1966) Even with the technical innovations of GGI-the modern version doesnt hold a candle to this one.
.the VALLEY OF GWANGI (1969) The brainchild of the great Willis O'Brien brought to realization.
.the GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD (1973) This is the first Harryhausen movie I had seen on the big screen. I was in awe.
.SINBAD AND THE EYE OF THE TIGER (1977) I also seen this one on the big screen. Many forget this film-I didnt. I thourhly enjoyed it.
.CLASH OF THE TITANS (1981) Sadly,Rays last film. I never understood why.
Ray has gone on to be with his childhood freinds Ray Bradbury and Forrest J. Ackerman in Olympus.
Bless you Ray Harryhausen. You will never be forgotton.

Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)
Interviewer-"Does Dracula ever end for you?
Lugosi-"No. Dracula-never ends."

Was really bummed to hear about this.  Although he hasn't worked in film for decades he still loomed large from his past work.  I can't claim to have seen everything he worked on but his creatures in Clash of the Titans and Mysterious Island had a fine effect on me as a kid.

RAY HARRYHAUSEN, along with FORRY ACKERMAN and RAY BRADBURY, was one of three original Monster kids.  A wonderful talent whose work people will be looking at as long as people look at Fantasy films.  Good night, RAYMOND.  We love you.
If you want to view paradise . . . simply look around and view it!

Well, this is still here, so it's not a mistake.

Goodbye Mr. Harryhausen.  You were an artist, a master of motion and miniatures.  Thanks for the films.
