Melody (Mimi Lesseos) is a writer/reporter for some newspaper in Hollywood. While gathering information on the strip she meets two homeless kids. She provides shelter at her place because a crazed street pimp is killing teenage runaways. Time to clean up the streets - Melody is trained in martial arts and she's also a war heroine!
Looks and smells like a cheap Cynthia Rothrock knock off but it's not. It's cheap alright, but there isn't much fighting going on.
Streets of Rage appears to be a vanity project by former female wrestler Mimi Lesseos. She produced the movie and wrote the script, and was most likely hoping for a breakthrough in the B-filmbiz. Looking at her IMDb resume it never happened though.
If you dig mid-90s home video production values, sunny urban setting, smooth jazz score and a former female wrestler showing off her buff body in tight clothing while neck-breaking bad guys than this might be right up your alley. Too much average dull cheese for my liking. I'll rate it 2.5/5.
