For the past few years, I occassionaly read online chatter about re-making Flash Gordon. Although I think that all the Flash Gordon serials & movies were all so bad they were good, I think the franchise could use a refreshing! I know that, prior to making Star Wars, Lucas tried securing the rights to Flash Gordon. Imagine how cool a Lucas-helmed F.G. franchise would have been? In any event, whether a re-make (or re-makes) focus on the original Alex Raymond strips, the Buster Crabbe serials/movies, or the B-Movie masterpiece from '80, who should be casted? Here are my thoughts...feel free to share!

Flash Gordon - Ryan Gosling
Dale Arden -
Dr. Hans Zarkhov - Paul Giamatti
Ming the Merciless - Johnny Depp (shave him bald & give him a Fu Manchu)
Prince Barin - Jake Gyllenhall
Prince Vultan - the only actor who was utterly perfect was Brian Blessed from the '80 movie
Klytus - Benedict Cumberpatch (who else can match his capacity for urbane villany?)
General Kala - I'm going with Lindsey Lohan on this...I'm sure she can carry the role of sociopathic dominatrix without any problems!
Princess Aura - Megan Fox
Prince Thun (as a Lion Man) -

Flash Gordon - Armie Hammer
Ming the Merciless - Johnny Depp

Wait a second . . . that casting sounds familiar . . .

I just can't picture Johnny Depp doing a pure evil scene chewing mastermind.

Maybe Gary Oldman or Jeremy Irons.
