I had never heard of Bulletproof up until a few days ago. It's hard to turn down anything that Gary Busey STARS in, and I do love my 80's action, so I decided to give it a go, and I'm freaking out because I'm noticing a rather POTENT TREND...

...this silly little B-movie from 88 seems to have inspired a lot of people!

Nobody talks about Bulletproof, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it's a top secret favorite movie for many celebrities, because I keep witnessing things that have been coppied or used in other movies after 1988.

Examples:
-The infectious synth drone when the Title drops.
-The Hot Pink and Sky Blue 80's lettering.
-Black and White Buddy Cops.
-The name "McBain" (used in The Simpsons, and a Christopher Walken title role)
-Danny Trejo the Drug Lord.
-Cop Plays-by-his-own-rules & his boss hates it.
-The sexy French girlfriend and tough brute at home scene (very similar to Pulp Fiction)
-Pulling the bullets from his body with giant tweezers. (Terminator 2)
-Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Juan Fernández, and Danny Trejo in some of their earliest "bad guy" roles.
...I'm only 20 minutes into the movie.

True, some of these were used before McBain, and McBain stole them, BUT... it could be that McBain is what kept them alive, or used at all anymore.

So, Let's have a vote. What's happening here?

A. The McBain Conspiracy is true, and this movie is a secret favorite that is never discussed.
B. Coincidental cliches being repeated.
C. Gary Busey is God, and is manipulating the populous subconsciously.

That's my vote.  TeddyR

I made a mistake when I referred to this film as McBain - thanks for correcting that.  Thumbup

I liked the film, it is wayyy over the top but the comedy helps: the one scene that always makes me laugh is where Gary Busey is trying to figure out which button on the tank does what - he presses one and a coffee percolator comes out of the wall.  BounceGiggle

Wiliiam Smith as the Russian is great too.

Also the final scene where Darlanne Fluegel crosses the border, the guard asks her if she's bringing anything back from Mexico, she smiles and points behind her, showing GB and the tank.  TeddyR
