Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

« on: July 18, 2013, 10:06:48 PM »

I found this on Netflix and, while it is definitely a "bad" movie, it was tremendously enjoyable. It's a remake/homage of a 1970's tv series called Denjin Zaborger (according to IMDB; I've never seen it). The movie is in two parts: In the first half, we see the beginning of an epic battle between Yutaka Daimon with his robotic motorcycle/transformer Zaborgar and Sigma, an evil organization that began after its leader killed Daimon's father. Sigma employs cyborgs as its army, including the lovely Miss Borg. Somehow or other, Daimon and Miss Borg fall in love and consummate their love in a beach cave. In the following battle, Zaborgar and Miss Borg destroy each other, and Sigma's other minions win the battle. At the midpoint of the movie, it seems that Sigma has won the war. 25 years later, Daimon is still dressed as he was, but he now drives the limousine of the corrupt prime minister. I will stop with plot here, because I think the movie is more fun when you don't know everything, even though nothing really surprising happens.

The really fun thing about this movie is the presentation; it is pure camp, played straight, just like the Adam West Batman series. The dialog is hokey, and bizarre, random things get thrown it at odd times to make for plenty of wtf moments. This movie is not for everyone, but it is definitely for me. Check it out and let me know what you think!

If you enjoyed this one, Yakuza Weapon might also be right up your alley. It's pure insanity.

I will have to see if that is on Netflix or, if not, I can track down a copy. Thanks!
