In case you haven't heard, THE MARBLE HORNETS was a wildly popular YouTube series that did much to build the legend of Slenderman, the faceless, suit-wearing entity that was first created on the Something Awful forums back in the early 2000's.  Cheaply filmed, meandering, and going on a beat too long, the series nonetheless managed to gain a huge following, yours truly among them.

So when I saw that this movie was coming on at 3 AM on Showtime, I DVR'd it to watch at my own convenience, which turned out to be this afternoon.  I was actually very impressed; I like "found footage" as a genre when it is done well, and this one I thought was done quite well.  It is only loosely tied to the YouTube series, but it does create the same impression of creeping horror and paranoia, and I found the characters to be quite believable and the ending delivered a good, hard punch to the gut.  Perfect? no.  Entertaining?  You betcha! 4/5
