Definitely 2.  The original wasn't bad at all, but the acting got much better in the 2nd (and crazier!) and the SFX were pretty darn inventive!  The movie made pretty much no sense at all, but was so involving, exciting and fast-paced, and Sam Raimi's camera work really set the film apart in the horror genre.  And the humor was a welcome touch.  Definitely, IMO, one of the top 10 all-time greatest horror films.
Army of Darkness was a bit too ridiculous and off-the-wall for my tastes.  And some of the dialogue and humor seemed a bit forced.  But man, did I love the windmill house scene-- hilarious!

I've told this story before, but Evil Dead 2 literally changed my life.

Picture me as bored teen in the early '90s surfing late night HBO in the hopes I'll get to see some naked ladies and happening on this movie. It was the most anarchic and fun movie I had ever seen, with creativity seeping out of its pores. I loved every second of it.

It was at this point that I realized that b-movies (or anything similar in the art world) had a vitality that was absolutely unmatched in more respectable fare. It's not a lie to say that this realization has colored every aspect of my life and been a prime-mover in who I am as a person.

So, obviously, Dead by Dawn.

Part 2.

Soley because I saw that one first.  I was at a friends house and they had just picked up all three on dvd.  By the time I got to his house, they were just putting in part 2 followed by 3.

I hadn't seen the first til later on but the second is so superb that the first just can't compete.

I really need to watch 2 again, but just based on pure volume of watches it's number 3.  Army of darkness is a go to film to watch with some close friends.

I went with Army of Darkness because it was the first one that I saw. At the time my knowledge of cult movies was sub-par at best and I didn't know that Evil Dead was a thing, much less a series. I saw the DVD cover over at a family friend's house and had to watch it. Throught that viewing I learned about the Necronomicon, chainsaw arms, blood geysers, and laughing deer.

I admit: when I hear Ash and Evil Dead I think of Evil Dead 2 and 3 BUT I think Evil Dead is my personal favorite.

Evil Dead II, it is pure insanity  BounceGiggle

then the remake, since it is one of the best horror remakes I've seen, I loved the use of detoxing as a plot device (since the movie is about demonic possession), plus when the machete gets stabbed through the wall the girl gets actually cut, it's not some "close call" like in other horror movies.

I went with two.

The Planet of the Apes style epic ending had me completely sold.

I voted for Evil Dead 2. It is the most well-rounded of the first 3, in that the 1st and 3rd movies had entertaining segments but felt disjointed by boring or downright silly parts. Whereas #2 had found that perfect plateau between horror and comedy that no other movie ever made since has ever accomplished.

I have not seen the remake yet. It looks good, but I see no "real" Deadites from the first trilogy. It looks like the kind of Evil Dead movie that Christopher Nolan of The Dark Knight fame would have done; which is not bad at all, but I like my Deadites cheap, bloody and rare, not slick and well-done!  BounceGiggle

Have not seen the remake.  I have watched the first three.  Love all of them.  Evil Dead II was the best IMO.

Two would be my favourite. Liked the first one, but after thinking about it, it would be my least favourite out of the whole franchise (with the Remake on 2nd and Army of Darkness in 3rd)
