I saw this movie in the late 80s, though I believe it to be from the mid/early 80s.

The scene I remember most is a father (bespectacled and mustachioed, I believe) sits with his son having some sort of heart to heart, when suddenly the father's nose starts to bleed profusely.  It continues to get worse, the father unsuccessful in trying to stop it.  I'm unsure of where it goes from there, but I just remember that scene so vividly.

Other details: I believe the plot had something to do with a family (father, mother, two sons) camping or staying in a cabin, or maybe I'm just remembering plaid clothing and associating it with the woods.  For some reason, I think the movie had a lot of humorous elements (as many 80s horror films did), maybe bordering on the absurd.  I also believe the father had thinning hair/was balding.

Thanks for the help!

Is it Alien Predator (1985)?  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092530/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Nosebleeds are a big part of this one and it does have a woodsy/camper thing going on.  I don't remember specifically a father and son, but it's been a REALLY long time since I've seen it.

Synopsis (with spoilers):  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092530/synopsis?ref_=tt_stry_pl

Thanks for the response!

Despite sharing many of the same elements as my description, that's not the film I was thinking of.

The father talking to his son and suddenly suffering a nosebleed is the most vivid and accurate memory of the movie I have, and what I feel would be the key to unlocking this mystery!  Dang this not remembering.

Holy moly, I just discovered what the movie was called!

THE AMERICAN SCREAM (1988)

Relief washes over me in an awesome wave.
