Silent stab scene. Please help!

Ok I watched a movie probably around 1986 or 1987. It was about a housewife who meticulously cleaned on a pretty rigid schedule, she cooked and did everything very systematically and chore like for her husband.  Then she discovers her husband is having an affair and stabs him.  I thought the male actor was james caan but apparently it isn't. I remember a scenes of her dusting the banisters.  There wasn't a lot of dialogue as I recall.  This is an obscure movie I am sure but does it sound familiar to anyone else

I had a friend who mentioned a movie that sounds close to what you are describing, although I have never seen it.

Could it be the film, Silent Scream?
