There is also American Ninja 5 without Dudikoff and James, but with Doug Bradley and Pat Morita.
Also to bring in some more japanese...There is Sadako 3D (5th The Ring-Movie) and Ju-On - White Ghost/Black Ghost (both came out at the same time, so both are 5th). Not counting the remakes of course.

I HATE that this is my contribution, but all the ones I could think of were taken, and I figure you want the list to be as comprehensive as possible, so here goes:

Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part 2 Electric Boogaloo

I'm supposed to be a South African film historian. Imagine my shock when I discovered that there are not two The Gods Must Be Crazy films but FIVE!!

The first two are the official Jamie Uys films and the other three are Chinese knock-offs.  TongueOut Question
'The Gods Must Be Crazy 5: The Gods Must Be Funny In China' added

Sister Street Fighter: Hanging By A Thread is the 5th entry in the Street Fighter martial arts film series.
thanks, but looking on imdb it's from 1974 and I can't find any other films called 'Street Fighter' from before this year, only one from 1975.
do you know what the first 4 movies are? (not that I don't trust you or anything, just seems a bit unclear!)

haha, no probs, they all count. 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' added

there seems to be some confusion on imdb if Sadoko 3D is the 3rd or 4th Ring movie, can't find anything to say it's the 5th, do you know what the first 4 are?

About Sadako 3D.
There are:
Ring
Ring Spiral (Or Rasen)
Ring 2
Ring 0 (Or Birthday -> Prequel)
and Sadako 3D

The confusion comes from Ring Spiral I think. After Ring Spiral didn't work really well money-wise, they made Ring 2 to be the real sequel to the original and kicked Spiral out of the Series. So I guess you could argue if Sadako is actually the 4th or the 5th movie.

thanks. According to the wiki article, 'Keep Em Flying' is the 5th Abbot & Costello so I'll go with that.

At some point I might re-arrange the list into straightforward 'Part 5's, and then another section for debatable or less obvious ones like fifth "installments", or sequels that aren't directly related to the series, etc...

I'm wondering about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series. There are 7 entries, but the 5th is actually the 2003 remake of the original. I wasn't going to count remakes as being sequels, however it's not a straight remake and some bits are different, also the next one ('Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning') is listed as being a prequel to the remake... so I guess, on that basis, I'll call the 2003 remake technically the 5th movie in the series. - unless any of you guys think otherwise...

this is all too complicated, haha

I am somewhat surprised no one has mentioned the Air Bud series of films and videos. There was . . .

Air Bud (1997)
Air Bud: Golden Receiver (1998)

The only two, as far as I know that played in theaters, and the only two that I saw, but they were followed by the straight-to-video . . .

Air Bud 3 (2001)
Air Bud: 7th Inning Fetch (2002)
AIR BUD: SPIKES BACK (2003) The 5th in the series
Air Buddies (2006)
Snow Buddies (2008)
Space Buddies (2009)
Santa Buddies (2009)
The Search for Santa Paws (2010)
Spooky Buddies (2011)
Treasure Buddies (2012)
Santa Paws 2: the Santa Pups (2012)
Super Buddies (2013)

Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. If they can find a way to make some cash, they will do it. So, no doubt, we'll get another one this year.

As for "Star Wars," what do I reckon? I reckon I want to strangle whoever came up with that series of numbering. I worked for an organization that distributed dvds to the public, and we often got someone who came in and asked for the 1st "Star War" film. And when I asked by 1st, did they mean Episode IV or Episode I, they often had no idea. Actually, now I think about it. Strangling is too good for them. I'll have to think of something special, as making them watch the "The Star Wars Holiday Special," and call it justifiable homicide.
