Eldery man goes on the attack over too many items in express lane

Florida, again.

An elderly man was arrested after attacking another elderly man with a shopping cart at a Walmart saying he had exceeded 20 items when buying his items in the express lane, authorities said.

William E. Golladay, 77, faces charges of felony battery for the Saturday incident where he struck 65-year-old John L. Malherbe at a Charlotte County Walmart, authorities said.

Malherbe told authorities that he was buying items in the express lane when Golladay started counting them as he placed them on the counter. When they exceeded 20, Golladay started yelling at him and that there were too many and told him he couldn’t use that register, the probable cause affidavit said.

Malherbe tried to ignore the man until he moved in close to his face and then Malherbe yelled for him to back away, authorities said.

As for the attack, wow. I knew that the elderly can get cranky at times (my grandma yelled at my mum for shoveling off snow from her car) but this is ridiculous.

I realize that the man shouldn't have attacked the guy but I must admit that I'm so tired of people who think rules don't apply to them.

Seriously though, I agree.
I once had an old lady who was in one of those Hover-Around type store carts trying to cut in on me when I was in line, as she demanded 2 dollars worth of quarters for the bus.

Finally when she wasn't getting the attention she needed, she jumped out of her electric chair with the speed a 20 year old. screaming at the top of her voice that she wanted "2  "God-da*n dollars in quarters".   The cashier told her to wait her turn and then she really blew her top.   

She went to the manager and the manager told her the same thing and she started with that " I'll never shop here again" BS. The manager was so cool, he told her "then get out of my store and waste your money at Shop Rite." She stormed out on her chair and almost ran over someone on the way out.   Good old New Jersey manners....
