In light of the AWESOME Super Bowl win by the Seattle Seahawks, this is a thread dedicated to anything Pacific Northwest-related.  This generally is Oregon, Washington and Idaho.  The entire region was in need of a pro championship of some sort, and the Seahawks came through with a blistering blowout of the Denver Broncos!  Here is your chance to commemorate not only championships like the Sonics in 1979, the Blazers of 1977, Boise State's awesome 2007 Fiesta Bowl victory.. but even memories of other things about the NW US.  Like pictures you have of living/visiting there, pics of Mt. St. Helens erupting, old tv ads from local stations there, tv bumpers, commercials of local car dealerships, local shows, whatever from these 3 states.

Pics of the Super Bowl win:
12th Man!

Lynch in Beast Mode (though for the most part Denver bottled him up):

Manning getting harassed:

And best of all; yes, folks!  It's official!  SEATTLE SEAHAWKS WIN THE SUPER BOWL!!!

Your Northwest-related stuff, or Super Bowl XLVIII discussions?  Post away!

On the Jackass The Movie audio commentary - which actually sounds like a drinkathon - the Jackass crew talk about about the fact that the Pacific northwest is "one of the worst places on the planet".  Question They were also moaning that it rains a lot. Double  Question Question

Looks fine to me.  Thumbup

:) Thanks brother Trev!
It does rain a lot but we haven't been snowed over this winter either.
Actually there's tons to do in the Portland and Seattle areas.  I'm not crazy about the hippie, quirky lifestyle of many Portlanders (and the fact they're chomping at the bit for marijuana to be legalized, as it is in Seattle.. boo).  But any kind of food you want there's someplace around town that serves it REALLY well.  Be it a fast food place, a restaurant or a food cart.  Lots of bike trails, monuments, conventions, sporting events, concerts, etc.  Never a dull moment.  And lots of good microbreweries and coffeehouses, for those that like that sort of thing.

I think - I hope I'm not wrong - that William Friedkin's The Hunted was filmed in that area. That was a great film.  Smile

YES ITS HORRIBLE, everyone stay out!!!  BounceGiggle

Frankly I think its basically heaven... never really cold, never really hot, a culture of excellent beer, excellent coffee (NO NOT $tarbux) in every town, seafood to beat the bad, every fruit but citrus, TWO cool cities to hang in.  This weekend we went snowshoeing in the mountains (Two hours east) and my parents took the kids to play on the beach in the dunes (one hour west). Heaven I tell you!

Sure theres rain and fog, but I like that too (Hippies are fine, though not my thing).   The Jackasses from Jackass can please stay far far away.

Filmed in and around Portland.
As were the exteriors of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.
As was Sometimes A Great Notion.
Dr. Giggles was shot around my hometown and my sister got married at one of its locations.
Hmm.. might have to dust off an old thread on "Movies Shot In Your Hometown".

Not that I gave a crap before, or will tomorrow, but there's been a lot of enthusiasm over four boys from the great commonwealth, including a couple from this podunk little hole in the wall...

I grew up in Juneau, Alaska. Not commonly considered the "Pacific Northwest" but it's basically the same thing.

I am also Alaska Native, Tlingit to be exact. So this area is quite literally in my blood.

And I will say the area is quite literally paradise for humans. Sure it may be cold and rainy, but it's ridiculously easy to live there. Food is incredibly abundant, and other than your occasional (quite horrible) earthquake, there are no horrific weather events. It's actually quite temperate, being right next to ocean. The temperatures very rarely drop below zero.

I do not care one whit for organized sports, but if I could live one place in the world, the Pacific Northwest would be high on my list. (I currently live in the desert of the Southwest.)

Ugh.. the Blazers are starting to suck.. a competent bench would greatly help.
On that note, I'll reminisce on better times for the franchise.
The Blazers started looking good in the late 90s when Scottie Pippen came aboard, advancing to the Western Conference Finals twice.  Here, he knocks off the Jazz.

Of course, Clyde and company were pretty awesome too, reaching the Finals twice.

Another Portland relic of yore..
BUMPITY!
A buck-toothed "bump on a lawn" puppeted and voiced by Bob Griggs, which hosted a children's show on KATU (ABC affiliate) in the 70's and 80's.  Local talent stopped by and read books, juggled, played guitar, etc.
