I have been searching for an 80s adventure movie where a group of people find a cave (possibly crystal cave) that has a single large crystal setting on a pedestal in the center of the chamber. As they are climbing the walls to either get in or get away, the crystal shoots out a laser beam that turns one of the members into a zombie type monster that looks crystal. If I remember correctly, he has a beard, his face turns white and starts to look cracked, his eyes turn white, and he may have a small crystal or dot on his forehead where the laser beam hit him.

Does anyone know what this film is? It played on HBO/Cinemax in the middle of the day in the late 80s (possibly early 90s), so it must have not been R rated.

Thanks for your help!

I believe that you are probably remembering "Treasure of the Four Crowns" (1983).  The end isn't in a cave, but the crystalized face and similar weirdness does happen, and it's quite like you describe.

Wow! Thank you!!!  I just looked it up on Youtube. That does fit most of the things I remember, but the memory I have of certain scenes all have a completely different look to them. I could have sworn it was a single white crystal that shot out lasers in a cave that looked like ice. But, this film is so close to that, it makes me wonder if it was my overactive child imagination filling in the pieces with different scenes!

I am going to go ahead and say that you have solved this mystery that has lasted for 27 years! Thank you so much!! You, sir, are amazing! I will have to sit and watch it all online, since I can't find it for sale anywhere. It looks to be a very bad, but extremely entertaining movie!

I'm so glad I found this site!  Thanks again!
