From the information I am able to glean from the web . . .

His name was John Davidson Winter III.

He was a Texan, as he was born in Beaumont, Texas.

He and his brother Edgar were albinos.

He had a long musical career, as it began in 1959 and continued to this year or the year of his death.

He won 3 Grammys as a producer. Producing these albums with Muddy Waters between 1978 and 1980. Thereafter, he hit a dry patch. Never winning another Grammy for any of his albums, even though as a recording artist, he was nominated several times.

His best selling album was "Still Alive and Well," which came out in 1973 and peaked at #22 on the charts.

And he and his brother Edgar sued DC Comics over the characters the Autumn Brothers, which appeared in the "Jonah Hex" comics, and were said to bear a striking likeness to the Winter Brothers. The suit was filed in 1996 and wended its way all the way to the Supreme Court which ruled for DC Comics in 2003.

R.I.P. John Davidson Winter III aka Johnny Winter.
