In honors of the Oscars last night I watched Gravity yesterday evening and wow, it blew me away.

I'll make it a point to check out some of the nominees (no matter what category). High on my list: American Hustle, Dallas Buyers Club, Her, The Great Gatsby, August: Osage County, The Croods, The Lone Ranger (yep) and 12 Years a Slave.

It's too bad Abdi didn't win Best Supporting Actor, b/c I'm pretty sure by this time next week he'll be back driving cabs again....

I still find it curious that best sound mixing and best sound effects go to a film that I understand mainly happens in space.

I must admit I haven't seen it, so it may be entirely possible that some extraordinary sound is going on within space vehicles or via radio...

They did good mixing when they muffled the sounds in space and only let the astronauts voice sound clear through the Suit-Microfones...so I can kinda understand that.
As for the oscars themselves...I didn't care. I was kinda sad, that DiCaprio didn't get his, but I like McConaughy too.
