I AM THE BAD PHOTOSHOP EFFECT!

Yes, it just in toy form currently.  This new monster, apparently called "MUTO"  looks sort of like a more insect-like version of Orga or the Cloverfield monster.  The info I've heard is that there will be several of them in the movie, basically like an insect colony with solders and presumably a queen to fight as the movie's main heavy.

I'm a little underwhelmed by the design.  My logic is that with this being a new darker timeline for Godzilla, they want him to tear apart a new unsympathetic foe instead of a familiar face like King Ghidoarh or Rodan. And it might be harder to connect with an insect then something higher up on the food chain. (Or that has a face).

What do you think?

The Godzilla looks terrible, so hopefully the other monster looks better in the movie. What we see of its tail in the trailer looks good.

I had a feeling from the trailer...

all the monsters from the past Godzilla movies and they whip up an alien stink bug with flexi straw legs?

Oh well - I'm still going to see it May 16th... just to see Godzilla.

I like the new design of Godzilla, but seriously...they just have to bring back new designs of old monsters. I really wanna see King Ghidorah reimagined.

I've learned with Godzilla remakes at the look of Godzilla is the least of the problems...but I do kind of like this design. They even gave him gills so now he doesn't have to hold his breathe anymore!

Here's a better picture of a toy of the badguy.

Having seen it in person (thius is not my picture by the way) I actually kinda like it.  It sort of reminds me of Gigan or Zigra mixed with Cloverfield.

King Ghidorah was pretty much done before with G vs.King Ghidorah 1991, but I thought Mecha King Ghidorah was awesome. Then there was Ghidorah from Final Wars, and there was a creature called Death Ghidorah in one of the non-Godzilla movies (one of the Mothra movies I think.)

No matter what monsters may come and go, I was very impressed with the new Angilas from Final Wars. He looked very reptilian, and of all the creatures claiming to be of dinosaur origin,  he looks the most prehistoric of all. He's always been a fave of mine!

Mothra did face King Ghidoarah himself in one of her movies.  It's not a bad updated look.  Really just a refinement of the classic.

I remember that now that you mention it. Thanks! Yeah, King Ghidorah always was a cool monster, even if he didn't have arms, lol.  There again I'm not gonna' pick a fight with a 3-headed dragon that shoots lightning in all directions, let Arnie or Chuck do that   BounceGiggle
