I have been trying to discover the name of a movie or series I watched on Shock Theater that aired on a local station. This was in the early 1970s and it was in color. I remember some details throughout the movie but not the complete plot. It seems that there was some type of transporter on earth and when people stepped on it they were automatically transported to a space station somewhere in space. There was a group of about 7 to 10 people that were transported and they figured out that they have to listen to all these cubes that had funnel looking ports on them and they had to redirect the space station and fire rockets at oncoming enemies in spaceships.  These spaceships were in bound to destroy the earth. In the end they all transport back to earth just in time. That's about all I remember about it and I haven't seen it since I was a kid. Any suggestions?

It doesn't all quite fit but some parts of what you describe sounds similar to This Island Earth...

Wonder if this isn't an Italian sci fi flick like one of the Gamma-One films.
Look over these: http://monstermovietv.blogspot.com/2013/12/dndf-antonio-margheriti-and-gamma-one.html

That certainly seems a good possibility...

There are few things more beautiful than a sporting montage with a soft-rock soundtrack
