HEAVEN IS FOR REAL (2014)

I approached this one with mixed feelings.  As a Christian, I believe that heaven is indeed for real,
and I plan on it being my eternal home.  On the other hand, many "near death" experiences strike
me as being too contrived, or naturally explainable.  This movie tells the true story of Kevin Burpo -
a teenager today, who nearly died on the operating table when he was 4 years old.  He emerged from
the operating room claiming to have seen heaven, and over the next several months he explained
to his parents what it was he saw - and who he saw.

Make what you like of his experience, the movie is well done and very touching.  The boy's parents
are brilliantly portrayed, and the effect Kevin's experience had on his family, his community, and
the church his father pastored are vividly re-enacted.

All in all, I still don't know what to make of Kevin's experience.  But I know someone made a very good
movie about it!

My favorite Christian movie was Pamela's Prayer did you ever see that?

I don't think I  have.  When did it come out?
I rather liked a very low budget Christian movie called
THE PERFECT STRANGER a few years back.

A bit off topic but still on the subject of religious movies, Moms' Night Out (2014) was falsely advertised as a screwball sort of comedy, leaving out the Christianity / Faith angle. Odd move by the studio considering that a few religious movies released this year turned out to be box office hits. Moms' pretty much bombed even though it got good reviews.

They played a trailer for that one when I went to see GOD'S NOT DEAD earlier this year.
It looked like good clean fun.
