So I wake up.  I'm going outside to feed and pet the outside cats, as usual.  Whoa!  There's a kid (14ish) out there playing with the cats.  I ask her what she's doing and she says she been coming down for a couple of days (!!!) to play with my outside cats.  I told here they weren't up for adoption and that she needed to leave.  She started crying and ran off.  Even from that limited contact, I could tell she was not quite right.  Hope I don't have an angry parent coming around asking what I did to upset their kid.  I guess I'll just have to tell them the truth: she was trespassing and I told her to leave.

I don't get why it would be wrong for someone to pet your cat if it's outside. are they in an enclosure of some kind?

She came onto my fenced in private property without permission, is the thing.

Little kids like that don't understand trespassing, she just wanted to play with the kitties

On one hand, I think she was innocently and harmlessly playing with the cats.  On the other hand, if the cats scratched her or she somehow got hurt on your property, her parents would probably hold you responsible.
