There is a horror movie from the late 70s or early 80s...had a lead actor that is famous now, but wasn't then.....thought it was Jimmy Smits, but no. It is about a group of 20 somethings that break down in the woods. A couple of them go looking for help and end up in a cabin where mutant people get them and the couple who stayed behind with the truck are also attacked

I know the plot isn't unique, but the famous person now part could have been a good clue.

It's not.

The Hills have eyes
The Final Terror.
Wrong Turn
Bloodeaters aka Toxic Zombies
Super Space Age Freaky Geek
B-Movie Kraken

Possibly Rituals (1977) or maybe Just Before Dawn (1981)???
