First I want to say thanks to everyone who reads and replies to these posts!  Through searches like this I was about to find the names of odd movies that I've watched over the years such as The Vanishing (I think there is a remake now?), Dogtooth, Dead Girl, The Children, Shrooms, and And Soon the Darkness (also a new remake out?)

The movie I am trying to remember was watched through a movie service (either Netflix or Hulu).  The only time reference I can give is my estimate of that it was after 2000.

This is what I can remember -

A woman is driving alone when she is in a really bad car accident.

She wakes up in a hospital where she is recovering only to start to realize that none of it real.  The hospital room has fake doors, fake mirrors, etc.  The doctors and nurses are not real.  I think she may have amnesia of some kind as well.

At some point she is allowed to make phone calls, but she's not really calling out, the operator is an actor, and the people she is talking to are not really friends of hers, just people that they've made her believe that she knew.

I think she is helped by someone, maybe a nurse's aid at some point who maybe begins to feel sorry for her.

Once she makes her escape she realizes that not only is the hospital just some sort of big set, but so is the entire town.  She steals a car from the hospital parking lot and drives off to find that the surrounding houses are just part of a big set up - I think either there are actors in the homes or mannequins (this part I'm hazy on).

She ends up in a school gymnasium at some point and find the person who is keeping her in this fake world.  Whoever it is claims that she is a spy.  They are trying to learn secrets from her.  Anyway this goes on and she continues to try to escape and I believe it ends up that she is not in America at all, but in this massive fake town set up somewhere in Russia.

For some reason I feel like she gets help and eventually makes it out of the town and escapes by boat somehow.

Sorry for the extensive details, but I hope it helps to jog someone's memory!  Oh and I've started a list in my imdb account where I log all of my movie watching habits now lol!  Thanks for reading my post!

It stars Hallie  Berry.  I think it may be titled DEMENTIA but I am not positive on that.

I saw Gothika when it was released here and - forgive me - but this isn't what I saw in the film. I also don't know which film the OP is asking about so I should just keep quiet.  Wink

Trevor's right. Unless the OP is totally misremembering the film or somehow also mixed it up the THE EXPERTS (89), there is no way it's GOTHIKA.
