Yeah I was really disappointed by this film. They took a wonderful villian and gave her a back story and a side story so she was no longer a villian. Why can't we have villians anymore?

I really didn't have a problem with the back story idea behind it. I like her having motivation for being evil. But the keyword here is "EVIL"...she ceased being evil in the film. I also think having a "misunderstanding" of evil would have been fine. Like if Aurora had been in danger at the end and in order to protect her Maleficent turns into the dragon and kills everyone, thus giving the knight a chance to kill her...something tragic is what I wanted. But instead we get bubblegum story telling and an "Everything is awesome" movie ending...bah.
