Jou ma se ouma-grootjie se tottie se punt: All I can say is that this is a devastating insult.  Buggedout Buggedout

Tried Googling that. First result I found was the print-friendly version of this thread.

It means "your mother's great-grandmother was a hermaphrodite"  and the 'Punt' part of it refers to the tip of a male organ (tottie)  Buggedout Buggedout TeddyR

Next word: vrot (pronounced fraught) - meaning rotten or stinky.  Buggedout

And considering how often you say you change your underwear, probably the most overused word in the Afrikaans. "Vrot!"

Next phrase: "I am Groot!" as per BrotherAkira's thread.

This translates to Afrikaans as Ek Is Groot [grew-wert]: meaning I am big.  TeddyR

Word of the day: poephol [poop-hall]

The greatest compliment you could ever give a South African.  Wink

Not really, it means "a-hole": poep meaning fart and hol meaning hole, in other words, fart hole.

 Buggedout Buggedout

Oy, I be so busted.

I had to google the word hamburger and see what is the Afrikaans word for it: the answer is hamburger - there is no Afrikaans word for it. Strange: a hot dog is "worsbroodjie" (sausage bread) but no word for hamburger.  TeddyR TeddyR

So that phrase translated is 'Een hamburger en 'n bier".  Drink

I know this hasn't been updated in a long time.  How about a few good aphorisms?  I'm sure there's some very colorful ones.   Thumbup
