I know this hasn't been updated in a long time.  How about a few good aphorisms?  I'm sure there's some very colorful ones.   Thumbup

I don't know if this qualifies as an aphorism but if someone  tells you "As jy dit gaan doen, sal jy kak" it translates as "You will be in sh*t if you do that."  Buggedout

Nice.  Reminds me of an anecdote where a Brit woke up after a bender and thought he was still drunk as he couldn't quite understand people.  Turned out he woke up in the Netherlands and was hearing Dutch.   TeddyR

You can really tell the familial relationship with English in core vocabulary words in sentences like that.

When Mom went to visit friends in the Netherlands a few years ago - she took Dutch in school - she was prepared to speak it with everyone, only to find out their preferred language was English.  Buggedout TeddyR TeddyR

Skiet daardie katjie: skeet dah rhee ky kee.

Shoot that cat
is a direct translation but it refers to someone puking in a toilet bowl so they should aim right and not puke all over the floor.  Buggedout

Daardie ou is so skerp soos 'n rolbal.

Meaning he is an idiot because bowling balls have no sharp edges.  Buggedout
