I drank a lot from my mid-20s to my early 30s.  I would get drunk . . . I mean, "don't remember stuff I did and pass out in strange places" drunk . . . almost every night of the week.  It was pretty normal among the people I hung around with.  We just all went to a bar or to someone's house every night and drank.  But it never really interfered with my life.  I always answered the bell for college or work the next day.  Now I'm 50 and I don't drink much anymore.  I get drunk maybe a few times every year, but I may go several weeks or months without having more than a few beers.  The thing is, when I AM drunk, I love it.  I always have fun when I get loaded.  Some of the best times of my life involved drinking.  I'm not really proud of that, but it's the truth!

Well, my drinking is more at home after work, of out but staying long enough to get right before I drive.
Hard stuff, beer or wine, what ever tastes good to me. Never saw any sense in getting plowed. Tis my way.

I was put off drinking hard liquor from an early age: my grandpa let me try a sip of what was in his coffee mug, I drank it, puked and haven't touched any liquor except for a beer now and then since. Usually when I have a beer, there's a lemonade or a Sprite added.  Drink

I smoked for 24 years and gave up in 2009 after a health scare.

I have never touched stuff like pot (or dagga as we call it here) or heroin or cocaine: I don't see any need to do any of these, although Mom is a medical marijuana proponent. She had two sisters one of whom had chronic asthma and the other cancer: her mom would make a tea out of the dope and drinking it would ease the pain that her daughters suffered. Mom told me she tried the tea and went  TongueOutBuggedout: very, very bitter.

You ARE the only RCMerchant, thats for damn sure, as for the rest...

I barely drink now, not even a beer a week, though I like a drink.  I never seem to have time for one, or want to spend the empty calories.   In the past...
Back in the mid 90's I used to burn off a a good part fifth before going out for the evening to party then kept going all night after that.  But I began to realize it ws for the wrong reasons so I made myself back off.   I've also experimented with a lot of other stuff, short of the "biggies" Heroin and what not.  I only ever liked hallocenigens, and then not often.  In college, I used to smoke Pall Mall unfiltered cigs, but gave that up when I realized they were not really doing anything for me.    Finally in the 21st centrury I don't do much of anything, I LOVE coffee and only drink alcohol when its something special, like a good beer, cider or cocktail. Hate smoking, and haven't touched a drug in nigh on 20 years.
I don't think I have an addictive personallity, I just do stuff, and tend to moderation overall.  Mostly I like waking up feeling OK, its a big incentive to clean living.

I once hated to be called "dude".  Finally, I came to appreciate the Dude.  Wish I had that head of hair.   Smile

I've a family history with alcohol.  For years I swore I'd never drink.  My dad was a drunk and we've had longstanding issues.  I still refuse to talk to him.  But I turn to it.  Frequently.  I drink a lot.
