Watching the trailer for the the movie "Horns" with the Harry Potter kid made me think of this film.  I only saw the trailer for this film on another film and here is the gist of what I can remember...

1.  These people who seem like reporters go searching for what seems like a local mythology of a demon in the woods.
2.  They find the humanoid demon, but seem to accept him a just a gross looking human mutant with what looks like a demon with horns.     (again this only the feeling I get from the trailer)
3.  They bring him to the big city, he becomes a celebrity celebrating his differences
4.  Immediately it is implied that his presence coincides with people becoming evil themselves and the demon is aware of this and enjoying how the people are figuratively turning into monsters themselves
5.  It felt like the demon planned this all along.  Play the part of a misunderstood person deserving of respect, make himself look good in the public eye all the while subverting the good public into becoming evil and enjoying the whole process.

I am not sure about the year the film was released, but based on the quality of the film it seems very like late 80s or very early 90s and low budget straight to video.

I think this is a film they used to show on IFC.  I believe it was called NO SUCH THING.

At first, I thought Hellboy, but No Such Thing is probably correct.

It was NO SUCH THING!.  Thanks, now that I finally got it, I'm gonna see it.  Funny how the trailer almost created a different story from the original movie by picking and choosing bits and pieces from the movie along with that music.  I've waited over 10 years since I saw the trailer to see this flick, now I fianlly can.
