Hello Friends!

I have been looking for years for the title of a move that I saw only pieces of in the late 80’s.  It was played on a VCR on a TV in a night club where they played strange movies all the time.  It has been a long time so I may have some of the details incorrect!

All I remember was that there was a black haired woman walking around minimally furnished rooms and halls and the background was all lit in blue.  At one point she was topless I think.  At another time she was smoking a cigarette.  The camera angles were all strange and she had strange looks on her face.  I seem to remember near the end there was a sign that said something like “better living through chemistry” on it.

Some other scenes had a look up staircase and there was a scientist or doctor in a lab coat.

I don’t know if there was talking or music as I was in a noisy night club.

Any help would be appreciated!   THANKS!!!!

Abstract angles, nudity, smoking, and lots of blue?

Late for your time frame but try Blue (1993).

Hi akiratubo thanks for the reply!

I took a look and while close, this isn't the one.

The one I saw was not a mainstream movie, it was too weird and artsy.  Also, the woman had more of a Betty Paige haircut (If I remember correctly from nearly 25 years ago Ha!).

I really appreciate your assistance however!

The minimal furnishing, abstract angles and blue lighting sounds like Manhunter (1986). The description also makes me think of The Hunger (1983), but both of these films could be too obvious.

Hey staircars, Thanks for the reply,

I took a look on youtube and watched clips of both of these and I can see why you thought they may be the one.  Both match my descriptions, but unfortunately aren't the one I remember.

I wish I could snap a bitmap or two off of my brain! Ha!

The movie I am thinking of was really WIERD.  Less of a mainstream movie.  The part I remember didn't even have anyone talking, just scenes of this woman and her face.  But it had to be popular enough I guess, to have been made into a VHS tape and played in a nightclub.

Sigh...

THANKS! for trying to help me out!!!!

I wonder if this might be DR. CALIGARI (1989), sounds a lot like it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097228/

@Cameron, if you are reading this, make sure that you write down this name, and/or download as much as you can about this movie, or even buy the movie itself.  That way you will always remember its name.  I've discovered movie names, only to forget them in the swathe of the many in my mind.  Do not do that!  Write it down in a central list, make a note in your diary, buy the movie.  And enjoy.
