BEYOND THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE (1979)

This must be an example of what MICHAEL CAINE meant when he said "I starred in a lot of sh!t."
Watching this right now on TCM I am reminded that I MUST have seen a lot of films I've forgotten (or mostly forgotten) because I do know I saw this when it was new in the theater.  I have long remembered SALLY FIELD crying and complaining "I hate to be called 'monkey'!"  But that's about it.

What a cast!  JACK WARDEN PETER BOYLE MARK HARMON

AND there are explosions and MICHAEL CAINE, leading a group through the wreck shouts something like: "Is everyone alright up there...?"  To which KARL MALDEN replies "Yeh, we're all alright" while there's a dead guy (just for visuals) slumped next to him...

I'm still watching it.  I love bad movies.

That is actually all I remember about it and I also saw it in theatres.  Smile

No movie with Michael Caine and Telly Savalas can be all bad.   Cheers

It's all bad.  TELLY SAVALAS gets to go back to playing a creepy callous criminal despite years of Kojak!

the original film i think is a great film. cheesy yes but enjoyable. i watched this oh to through a number out there i'd say 10 years ago? maybe more or maybe less? i have no idea to be honest, either way i was just a baby when it was in theatres in (1979) and this one is BAD! i dunno what would be the worst Michael Caine films cause i haven't seen them all yet.

but this is one of his worst. didn't he say that he starred in a lot of bad movies in the 70's? and yes the 80's as well. my favorite comment about him making a film was when he later in Jaws 4 later in (1987) a film that i haven't seen in years. i used to enjoy the hell out of that one. i dunno about now though, anyways his remark was that he only did it cause he i think he used the money to either buy a house or build one i forget. much the same way that Betsy Palmer did Friday the 13th not because she wanted to she thought the script was utter garbage but she needed a new car so she took the part.

that in itself just makes me laugh ya know?

Earthquake, The Swarm and Beyond the Poseidon Adventure make for a fun disastrous disaster triple feature.
Throw in Avalanche (1978) and Hurricane (1979) for good measure :)

the 70s....I recall seeing the first Upsidedown adventure, and EARTHQUAKE,the TOWERING INFERNO,AIRPORT 75-the one with Charleton Heston?
Never seen this one-I was burnt on disaster movies by the time this came out...I would watch it just for Telly Savalas-hes Kojack! Thumbup

Avalanch  i haven't seen that old Corman film. nor have i seen Hurricane either. or the towering inferno. but  The swarm is terrible! you know what one i actually did like though? that i really went in with really low expecations and i surprisingly enjoyed! was (1978)'s "The Bees" i think is the name of it? it's got John Carradine in it and in it he speaks i think Russian for some strange reason and he's good in it real good in it. and so is the film in my book too. it's actually one of his better films i think. and i also think that Corman also put that one out as well. what can i say Corman is my favorite producer of all time. i just love his films!
