I know, its not really bad movie related but I find people with this kind of logic hilarious.

http://www.mamamia.com.au/news/same-sex-marriage-divorce/

Totally understand if your religious views are different, but most forward thinking religious folk I know aren't threatened by somebody else's marriage regardless whose it is, so to divorce in protest is a pretty silly gesture.

[just thought I'd share as there's been a lost of posts about the plenty of crazy from Florida so it's nice to show off some of our crazies sometimes too.]

I am actually opposed to the redefinition of marriage, but this still makes no sense.

That's because you know how to apply common sense! I don't know. I just hope they're not Catholic [isn't divorce prohibited still if you're Catholic?]

Agreed 100%.

I am a member of the LGBTQI community - the B part.
I try to live my life right and not judge others.
I am for people of the same gender living together and marrying too.
I believe I have some - not a lot - but some common sense.  Wink
I believe my God sees everyone the same and accepts everyone: I have members of my family who are in that community and are Christians, irrespective of orientation.

I ask: who does it hurt if you love someone of the same gender? No one.

I found out that a little girl I used to babysit when I was 16 has grown up to be a filmmaker - she blames me for that  Wink - and she has come out as a lesbian. Her father is a church minister. She and her partner got married by him and in a church too!

PS: She's a Christian too.  Smile

I have never questioned that there will be many gays in heaven.

But I also still believe what the New Testament says about homosexuality.

That's as much as I care to say.

I am kinda confused. I never really understand what is all the fuss about.

Probably because here in Italy the law makes pretty much no sense and it is CONVENIENT not getting married. And in fact the marriage is in quick decline.

It is convenient not to marry because, if you are married the income is the SUM of the bride and broom. If you are NOT married they are counted separately. Since taxes are regressive you tend to pay much more and lose benefits if you are "richer." It become worse if you get chidren, a lonely mom gains more benefits that a married couple; so why marry?

As I stated in the beginning it is total nonsense, the Italy law is essentially saying: "do not take your responsibility for bringing up a family or I punish you."

However, even if I guess it is different elsewhere it is really so convenient to marry? What is the fuss about?

I'm not a strong religious person, actually, this was the first year my daughter went to a Lutheran School for First Grade and we had too go to Church once a month (for Sunday School) and it was a pain in the butt. (Is this bad?). I'm pointing this out because I think Marriage is very something important - that's deeper then any church... Marriage is a tradition.

Anyway, I don't agree with this 'redefinition' of the word Marriage.  I do think if the gays really, really want to be married (and not being advocates). They would be serious about the issue and make up their own word and definition that would be acceptable for the modern society as a whole.  Something like: Union or Partnership. Then the gays don't have to do something silly like calling Man 1 (the husband) and Man 2 (the wife). They could actually make up a name for Man 1 and Man 2 (or woman 1 and woman 2).

Once again, that's - if - the gays were being serious about the 'gay marriage issue.'

I'm not here to fight on this gay issue. But tolerance is a two way street... and those gays should be equally tolerant to others as we must be equally tolerant to them. And tolerance don't mean that the gays remake tradition and the non-gays must accept it.

Ummm....yeah, that makes total sense. Go ahead, Australian weirdos. Get divorced, that'll really teach those dang gays a lesson. Or something. Whatever.

Actually, even if they don't legalize gay marriage, these two maroons should divorce anyway, just so they don't stay together and breed.

Since just about every damn animal/insect/whatever wants to kill you in Australia, this shouldn't come as a surprise. But still, this is Florida level 'WhatTheHellness'

Seems they may have struck a legal hurdle with their plans!

http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2015-06-11/christian-couple-vow-to-get-divorced-in-face-of-gay-marriage/6539412

Maybe they should have sought legal counsel before their announcement...

I don't think anyone should get married but that's just my opinion. To me, unless you're the exceptional case of true love, when the split comes, it will not be pretty.

Well, we can discuss about what is the best family way. In the yore in the small villages children were of the "village" not really of the father/mother; so couples did go and leave naturally.

Nowadays with the (christian?) idea of family it is much more complex, however I agree that when children are not involved (as they aren't or they are already 18) the split is uselessy complex.
