I guess it mostly comes down to the fact that I can relate to ordinary people trying to make a movie with a very limited budget, with the sole objective of entertaining the audience, and maybe they fail or maybe they succeed but at least they tried.  On the other hand, I cannot relate at all to these Hollywood people;  non-acting celebrities with gigantic egos, directors who are worshiped as gods because they once, five movies ago, showed the slightest spark of creativity, the douchewads who look at horror with disdain and "just another line on my resume".  And the whole "We've got $100,000,000 worth of CGI - in 3-D - who needs characters or a story?!?!".  Those movies are made by accountants and marketing analysts, while B movies are made with heart and soul.  And usually an entertaining dose of incompetence too  TeddyR

The 2nd half gets cheesy, but the first half rocks the fuggin' house. I love this flick, it's the best of both worlds.
