Apparently SyFy's latest creature concoction attracted enough viewers at the end of "Sharknado Week" to merit a "Lavalantula 2" for next summer. I personally enjoyed the hell out of "Lavalantula" and found it way more entertaining than the overstuffed "Sharknado 3."

I only caught the last five minutes of Lavalantula and just thought "shouldn't it be Lavarantula?" but yeah, I don't think it would take a whole lot to unseat Sharknado from its throne  BounceGiggle

I'm going to disagree that this movie will unseat Sharknado.  Not calling those movies great, and Lavalantula was enjoyable  but this felt like the Asylum was ripping off themselves.  I think the Sharknado movies are a little too entrenched now.

I liked em both, but I'll give the SHARKNADO franchise a slight edge right now.
BUT, I'll definitely check out LAVALANTULA 2 when it comes out!

Lavalantula wasn't an Asylum production (tho it does copy their formula to a tee).

Lavalantula taking the throne of Sharknado? Well, that really has to do with opinions for the most part. My opinion is, I loved them both, but I personally thought Sharknado 3 was a blast of B-Rated fun. I mean, sharks on roller coasters, and sharks in space? While Lavalantula certainly had some B-Movie magic up its sleeve as well, I think Sharknado 3 was one of the best B-Movies.

Despite of this opinion of mine, I do have one on both. I believe that those two will just become repetitive at some point. I think at some point in time, the Sharknadoes and Lavalantulas will be pretty much the exact same thing. Since Lavalantula is entirely new now, it has a few years before that happens. But Sharknado also has the high chance of just getting old after a while. They'll run out of ideas, or just use the used ones again. Honestly, I found the second Sharknado kinda "Meh", but I loved the first and mostly the third.

But, the answer to whether or not Lavalantula will take the crown of Sharknado lies in whatever the future holds, if you know what I mean. In other words, we'll see. For now, it's just opinions on who thinks which one was the best.
