RIP Yvonne Craig;

(CNN) —Yvonne Craig, best known for her role as Batgirl on the 1960s "Batman" TV series, has died. She was 78.

The actress and dancer had been battling breast cancer for two years, her family said in a statement posted on her website.

Craig portrayed Batgirl in the show's third and final season, bringing a female touch to the proceedings, alongside Adam West and Burt Ward's dynamic duo.

She also had a memorable role as the green-skinned "Marta" on "Star Trek" in its third season.

When I was a kid, she was one of the first actresses to really get my attention. Thought she was a stunning beauty. R.I.P. Bluesad
