In these days one has to wonder.

1. Convenience over Quality - I stream movies and they look good enough for me. Physical media is pretty much dead and I don't want to clutter my place with discs (anymore) because of limited space.

2. I'm strictly old school. I still collect physical media or watch movies in any kind of form (VHS, laserdisc, DVD etc) except for streaming.

3. I do both, stream movies and still watch/collect movies on physical media or any kind of form.

Do any of these apply to you? How much have your viewing habits changed?

I tried Netflix for a while, but at the start of the year gave it up. I like having the physical discs, although I did have to agree when my DVD collection dominated an entire wall of my man cave to take the discs out of their cases and store them in DVD binders (each one holds a bit over 500 discs). My main concern with buying stuff thats only available to watch online is what happens if that company goes out of business?

I'm always extremely underwhelmed at the movie selection at Netflix or Amazon Prime / Instant whatever. For every little gem there are 10 crappy movies. The ones that usually interest me I already own on disc. Take into account that I don't have the slightest interest in TV shows, which makes Netflix & Co useless for me.

3, definitely. I prefer physical media, but why not take advantage of everything technology has to offer?

A little from column "A" and a little from column "B" for me.

I watch movies however I can get'em.  We subscribe to Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming services and I've found lots of goodies on both. (Amazon in particular was a treasure trove of trashy '70s and '80s horrors during this past Halloween season.)

However, I still have a shelf full of DVDs and have only just recently bought a blu-ray player (which I guess is kinda like closing the barn door after the horses have left...haha). The last two movies I watched were on disc, rented from RedBox.

I have never considered myself a big DVD collector, though. I buy 'em when I can find 'em cheap (bargain bins, thrift stores, garage sales, etc.) but then unless you're talking about all time favorites, I might watch most of 'em once or twice and then I trade'em, donate'em or find some other way to move'em out and make room for more.

I can't stream films as I don't have internet at home so I rely on cinema screenings and any DVDs or tapes I can find. Also, the AMC / MGM channel screens quite a lot of good / bad films so I have that.  Smile

Sadly once kids showed up; talking animals predominate.

My kids don't like movies, and would rather play, read, climb trees, be outside...While proud, I think I have somehow failed.

Yeah actually, I'm not entirely sure if a Gasper Noe film or something came out now I would watch it. I could handle a lot of violent art house styled films back in the day now I just don't want to subject myself to it now psychologically. Much like music I think I'd rather just encounter the positive things

The short answer is "NO!"

I still watch them the same way: in the theater.

I still eat the same snacks (for the most part): candy, a drink, a hot dog (sometimes nachos.)
I have changed the soft drink to bottled water or sometimes orange juice or ice tea, as I have to watch my sugar intake.
And I have had to give up eating popcorn, because the pieces get stuck in my craw, and then there is hell! to pay.

I still watch and enjoy the same films I have watched and enjoyed for o'er 50 years.

What I have found changed is the public taste in films, which is why I watch fewer films now than I use to watch.
