I've been out of the little... fandom? Are we a fandom? But anyhow, I've been out of the bad movie scene for a while now, mainly because I've seen things so hilariously bad that much else falls short. But also because modern attempts at cashing on on ironic bad movies are so common and so heartless that the genre loses a lot of its fun. Thank you, Tommy Wiseau, you bastard (and now Greg Sestero will never come back to Full Moon).
After slogging my way through such films as Sharknado, Sharkano, and Sharkmageddon, I can say decisively that intentional attempts at bad movies are typically never as good.
Typically.
After seeing the full-length feature (free from its director on Youtube, in a definite bro move) Helen Keller vs. Nightwolves, I began to have hope for intentionally terrible cinema again. While it lacks even Attack of the Killer Tomatoes' modicum of effort, it makes up for it with a wit that surprisingly has a string of logic behind its absurdity that keeps it from being too random to be funny. While juvenile, it comes off as a genuine attempt to connect with high school students and burnout 20-somethings, rather than pandering to them. It wasn't made well, so they put it up for free, and never seem to be trying to sell a name to you. Too irreverent to be market-friendly in this day.
This is the one ridiculously-titled film of 2015 that I would recommend. But now I wonder, are there more like this that I've unfairly overlooked?
I'd put it on the level of Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman, which is a movie I am not ashamed to say I love.
I do not remember how to post YouTube videos on this board, so here's the link :/
