A rich girl runs away to live with her boyfriend in the condemned building he and his bandmate are squatting in; they are accidentally locked in as some sort of virus that turns the residents into pus-faced killers spreads. 2.5/5 for bad movie lovers.
*This has very low ratings---3.4 on IMDB. I don't think it's THAT bad; it makes little sense but it's watchable. I'm not sure where the hate is coming from. Yeah, the general idea is similar to [REC], but they really don't remind me much of each other in execution.
*The condemned building has electricity and running water. I might not have noticed this, but the script calls attention to it without actually explaining how it works.
*It's mostly about the characters. In fact the movie runs for half an hour just introducing the various junkies, a Jewish pimp, a pair of bodybuilders in an S&M relationship, a Russian/Chinese drug dealer, and so on before it even starts the virus plot.
*The director has some visual talent---the brief hallucination scenes are good---but little storytelling ability.
*It's got sleaze, a nonsensical story, gay S&M bodybuilders, a cute female lead, and plenty of hateful cast members to kill off---what more could a bad movie lover want? I don't know, but I wanted SOMETHING more to put it over the top.
*I mainly post on this one separately because it's on Netflix streaming, so many of you can catch it if you like.
