bumping cause I just watched the 2009 remake/reboot... saw it when it came out but couldn't really remember it.

really horrible effort IMO. the whole thing takes place in darkness for a start, hard to even see what's going on, and when you can it's usually shakey cam stuff. I was over half way through and realised I didn't even know some of the main characters, everyone seemed interchangeable. not surprised to see Michael Bay's name involved with this.  reminded me of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Beginnings thing that he also had a hand in iirc. obviously the F13 movies are never going to be high art but this was real trash.

I got yer back on Micheal Bey-the guy is a f**kin moron-and he thinks his audiance-(who are usually not more than 14)-are gonna keep watching s**t blow up.
A STORY-even crazy ones like from AIP in the 50's-some f**kin story-a REAL f**king story. One bloody kill after another don't match-for me-the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974)-which dint have any gore at all-but it was f**kin scary.

no doubt... it's a myth you need gore to be scary. obviously it's a more important element in the whole 'slasher' genre, but blood'n'guts should never be used as a substitute for proper storytelling or film making, as you say.

They make no sense.

Oh, I said that already...

They make no sense.
I saw the 3D one when it was new in the theater.  That's the one where the mousy girl gets dressed up for a mystery date or something, and gits it?  Damned funny.  BounceGiggle
That third one is the only one I'd be interested in seeing again.

Of course I agree with this; the great power of TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE is many think they see something they don't.  The film is just INTENSE... and a masterpiece.
