Turn Up the Evil!

Saw Monsters: Dark Continent on Neflix the other day. I'm pretty sure this piece of crap rates a skull.

I think the screenwriter wanted to make a gritty war drama, but they couldn't find a studio that would buy the script. Somehow they got the idea that if they could turn it into science fiction, they could market it to the Asylum or one of the other cheap studios that sell to Syfy.

Thus, Monsters: Dark Continent was born: a gritty war drama with some vaguely Lovecraftian monsters thrown in as set dressing. The monsters serve no storytelling purpose; at best, they are an environmental hazard added to the war story.

And the war story itself is not engaging enough to garner even one slime from me.

Earth is visited by a GIANT ANTIMATTER SPACE BUZZARD! Gawk at the amazingly bad bird puppet, or chuckle over the silly dialog. This is one of the greatest b-movies ever made.
