All submissions must be:

Random.
True.
And gross.

How about a tale that's got two out of three, you ask?

No, it must be (let us review):

Random.
True.
And gross.

For instance:

When I was in middle school my cousin worked at a chili parlor, and the deal was, the manager was supposed to boil the chili that was in an insulated  multi-gallon pot beside the service counter at 212 degrees before closing at two AM, and then the next manager on duty would re-heat it to boiling in the morning at six, because supposedly that was easier than trying to cool down five gallons of hot chili overnight, and it technically met regulations since it didn't reach critically low temperatures in just four hours.

Supposedly. Sounds crazy to me but I guess nobody got sick. This was the early '90s, hopefully things are better now, but I don't see how we survived to reach the millennium.

Well my cousin came in and opened the next morning and saw that a rat had gotten into the chili pot in the night and drowned, was floating there scalded with its teeth bared, and the manager saw the rat and freaked and said customers would be there in a few minutes and there was no time to un-thaw a block of frozen chili, SOOOOO, yup, he scooped out the rat, boiled the chili to kill any germs, and....served it.

To this day my cousin refuses to eat at one of this restaurant's many local chains. (No names but they're freaking everywhere around here.)

True. Gross. Story.

I remember a patient in the Post-Op clinic pooped out bits of their colon onto the restroom floor, and I had to clean it up.  Thumbdown

I also remember a long time ago the family picked up some fried chicken from a grocery store's deli counter.  We found a FEATHER in it.   Buggedout

My wife's college roommate came in from her shift at a local restaurant with a huge bandage on her thumb and told Patty:  "Don't get the ham tonight! The end of my thumb is in there somewhere!"

In my last year of high school a pushcart driver came to our school daily and sold cold Cokes and delicious warm Chelsea buns to the hungry students at break time: no cafeteria in Zimbabwe high schools, unfortunately.

After a week or so of this, my friend Aaron pulled me off to one side and told me that I shouldn't buy from the guy at all, explaining that I should stand behind the seller and see what he did before he sold the Cokes and buns. So I did so: I saw that the seller had a few large pimples on the back of his neck, which he would surreptitiously squeeze the pus out of and then covertly wipe his fingers on the bun before he handed it to the buyer.  Buggedout Buggedout

I haven't eaten a Chelsea bun since.   TongueOut
