Now-I'm not so sure this was the finest movie from 1970-I'll go for BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS,WOODSTOCK or even the VAMPIRE LOVERS (I LOVE that movie!)-but this was 1970-and rebelling against the norms of society was the "in" thing in movies. But make no mistake-I did enjoy it-quite a lot, really.
Jack Nicholson plays a gifted pianist from a upper crust family who drops out of society to wander around the southwest.
And-thats the plot.
BUT! It's also a great charecter study-Jack is in top form, and Karen Black is a national friggin treasure as his waitress girfreind.
Some great dialouge and the diner scene where Jack tries to order toast by way of a chicken sandwhich is priceless.
This is my favorite scene,though.
